- To obtain a more commercially viable M rating for its theatrical release in Australia, a majority of the film's violence and gorier moments were cut by Columbia TriStar Films. These cuts were later restored for an uncut R rated home video release.
- The South Korean cinema version was cut by the Korean censors to remove 4 minutes of gory violence, and incestuous sex to achieve a '15' (PG-15) certificate after distributed by Columbia/TriStar Films (Korea) in 1998. The same cut version was released on VHS the same year by Dongwoo Video, and was finally passed uncut at '18' for DVD in 2003.
- The film was severely censored by the IMDA (certification system of Singapore) to cut 5 minutes of gory violence and incestuous sexual scenes in order to achieve a 'PG' rating for the VHS release. It was never released on DVD or Blu-ray or re-rated in its uncut version.
