DJ Does Pottery on Instagram: "Making a cake tray part one 🎂 First step to make a cake tray is throwing its parts on the wheel. There are two components to a cake tray: the plate where cake or cookies or whatever you like to indulge in sits and the base, which holds up the plate and its drool worthy contents. This base is an open cylinder. It could’ve also been a closed bottom cylinder—this is a design choice. I’ve made two cake trays, each with a different base to see which I like better. The closed bases gives a bit more structure and stability. #pottery #prep #ceramic #studio #preparation #potterystudio #potterylove #potterylife #handbuiltceramics #porcelain #clay #clayart #clay #handmade #art #artoftheday #progress #process #contemporaryceramics #makersgonnamake #claysculpting #han Ceramic Cake Plate Stand, Pottery Cake Stand Handmade, Handmade Ceramic Cake Stand, Cake Stand Ceramic Handmade, Pottery Cake Plate, Ceramic Cake Stand Handmade, Clay Cake Stand, Ceramic Cake Plate, Pottery Cake Stand

This one-of-a-kind cake stand is perfect for showcasing your cakes. It was wheel thrown as two separate pieces, trimmed and carved into a scalloped design and then attached to eachother with slip. Finished with a green avocado glaze. I make my pieces at a pottery studio in Vancouver. Everything is slow-made with love and no two pieces are exactly the same. Handwash.
