Sky above me... Slate sign

This series of mosaics was inspired by the beauty of the Easdale slate which comes from a group of islands off the west coast of Scotland. The designs were based on the shapes and colours of the slate. Additional materials, including other types of slate, stone, glass were used to add variety and texture to each mosaic. This lovely piece of reclaimed wood has warm honey tones and wear markings in it. The background colour is painted in a soft slate grey, over the top I have painted a single Cow Parsley stem with fine flower head detail using Acrylic Paint.
