"The Batman Saga"[1][2] is the first multimedia canon series in the Batman Film Franchise. The kickoff point being the 2022 film The Batman. The first major spinoffs are the The Riddler: Year One and The Penguin streaming series.
The premise of this continuity, Batman is depicted as younger and much less experienced than that of typical incarnations. The character also lived reclusively as Bruce Wayne, rarely leaving his home unless patrolling as the masked vigilante. This reality also depicted his father to be an associate of crime-lord Carmine Falcone, who used his death to take over the city through Renewal. Batman's presence gives to theatrical criminals in the city, including the serial killer Riddler and mobster Penguin. A large part of the appeal of the saga's premise is for audiences to watch the beginnings of the supervillains and their rise to power as Batman himself also evolves and to give a fuller sense of Gotham's history than a film series alone could deliver.
