This is an idea for a do-it-yourself Benjamin Franklin costume. My grandson was preparing for a wax museum program at school. He called upon me, his grandma, to be his stylist! Such an honor. Made this tricorne hat for last minute George Washington costume. Used a rough idea from this site http://makinghistorynow.com/2014/10/diy-colonial-kids-costumes/ and then modified it by not adding the top of the hat and also hand sewed pieces together. Glued cotton balls to white felt and sewed that into the inside of the hat since it was too hot to wear a wig.

My husband and I went to a Halloween dinner this past weekend where we had to follow the theme of pirates and colonial/commodore costumes. So, I went off on my hunt to make our costumes.
