A European cypress is better known by the common name Italian cypress. It is a columnar evergreen with scalelike leaves. Dwarf cultivars like 'Tiny Tower' and 'Dwarf' are preferable to grow in pots. They top out at 25 feet or so and grow slowly, while regular species trees grow to over 100 feet.
