English: Trestle (or the Trestle) is a structure in the Sandia Base area of Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, USA. It has no metal parts, and is the largest all-wood-and-glue laminated structure in the world. It used a non-nuclear electromagnetic pulse to simulate the electromagnetic effects of nuclear weapons on aircraft and rockets without the need to use an actual high-altitude nuclear explosion. Formally known as the ATLAS-I (Air Force Weapons Lab Transmission-Line Aircraft Simulator), it was built and put into operation in the late 1970s, and deactivated in 1991, but the structure remains.
