Synopsis for "Hope No More"

Razer tells his story to Hal. He was meditating on the fields of Odym until the Blue Lantern Power Battery exploded. The central part of Odym was devastated and thousands died. The survivors tried to recover and save as many as they could, until a fleet of pirates attacked them. Some Blue Lanterns were killed, others were enslaved and Razer hid in one of their ships, looking for a way to escape. By stealing one of their translator microbes, Razer figured out that the pirates were going to Earth to deliver some weapons, so Razer thought it would be a good idea to ask Hal for help.

Razer had also heard rumors of the Power Batteries from New Korugar and Ysmault being eliminated, as well, and this leads him and Hal to believe that someone is deliberately destroying Power Batteries throughout the universe. When Razer suggests asking the Guardians for help, Hal replies that the Guardians have disappeared and the United Planets are now in charge of governing the galaxy. Even Hal doesn't believe his ring can be of any use, for it won't let him leave the Earth.

With some encouragement from Razer, Hal attempts to break into low orbit, but the ring always shortens out, only powering up before Hal hits the ground. Something is keeping Hal on Earth, and whatever it is, it's not his willpower. To make matters worse, Carol has arrived at Hal's trailer, demanding to know what happened between him and Sinestro. Hal wanted to call her about it but he forgot and now, he has to help Razer. Carol is shocked that Hal would leave her again, and Hal asks her for a reason to stay on Earth. Carol remains silent and leaves. Razer tells Hal to tell Carol how she feels about her but Hal replies that she already knows. Committed to his mission, Hal brings Razer to someone that could help them go to space.

They travel to Greenwich Village, home of Madame Xanadu. She is aware that there is something wrong with the emotional spectrum and she already knew that when Sinestro came to see her. Hal asks why didn't she call him about Sinestro and Xanadu replies that it happened months ago. Much like Hal, Sinestro was looking for a way off Earth but something, or someone, has blockaded this part of the universe, both physically and mystically.

Hal tells her that, for some reason, his ring won't let him leave the Earth and when Xanadu touches it, she goes into a trance. She feels a mysterious green power and tells Hal to travel to its source. Hal quickly understands what Xanadu is talking about: she is referring to Spain, the place from which Hal felt an energy surge when he fought Sinestro. Before Hal can make sense of Xanadu's vision, however, the place is attacked by a group of individuals dressed like Green Lanterns.

They identify themselves as United Planets Lanterns and they have been chasing Razer throughout the universe. Hal attempts to defuse the situation and warns the new Lanterns that somebody is destroying Power Batteries across the universe, but the United Planets Lanterns believe him to be in league with Razer and attack him, as well. The UP Lanterns display the power to switch between the different colors of emotional spectrum and distract Hal long enough to capture Razer and depart from the Earth.

Knowing that Hal is determined to save Razer, Xanadu tells him to travel to place in which he felt that enormous power and Hal complies. He flies to Galicia and finds a mysterious hole in the depths of Monte de Sante Trega, which continuously supercharges his ring. Hal doesn't dismiss the possibility of this place being some kind of trap but remains hopeful that he will find a way to help his friends.

Synopsis for Kyle Rayner: "Good Talk"

Kyle finds himself alone in an asteroid, with only constructs of a coffee shop and his dead girlfriend, Alex, to keep him company. He expresses his feelings of doubt and insecurity to the image of Alex. Even after all these years, he still misses her, just like he loves being part of the Corps. Still, he can't help but feel that there is something wrong with the universe. The Guardians are gone, Hal is stuck on Earth and, worst of all, there is some kind of problem with the emotional spectrum. He feels like someone is trying to damage it, or even destroy it. He wants to do something about it, but he doesn't know what he should do.

The constructs vanish and Kyle is left alone, until he is visited by Jo, who has found something suspicious about the United Planets and their attempts to take over the Corps. Without any time to spare, Kyle agrees to join her mission.
