Quote1 Why by all means I'll go with you! This will give me the opportunity to see what New York was like 100 years ago! Quote2
— Oliver Weed src

Oliver Weed was a time traveling historian.

In 1935, in New York City, historian Oliver Weed met scientist Uriah Mowcher, the inventor of a time machine. They teamed up to visit 1835, and a trouble-making urchin named Fritz stowed away in the machine.[1] In 1835 Weed met Miss Abigail Blumel, and was quite smitten with her. Shortly later, Mowcher met Abigail's aunt Madame Betsy Blumel, and was likewise intensely infatuated with her. Young Fritz left the scene in a huff, but he too encountered a local girl, Miss Emily Jane, and fell instantly in love.[2]

No existing records remain to reveal whether any of these time travelers were able to return to 1935.

Mowcher's Time Machine

  • Mowcher's Time Machine also transformed the clothing worn by Weed, Mowcher, and Fritz, into 1830s-style attire.
  • The Mowcher-Weed time expedition inadvertently resulted in the popular song Stormy Weather, by Harold Arlen, to be "written" almost 100 years earlier, in Earth-Two history, than it was in our own timeline.
  • The Strange Adventures of Mr. Weed ended in mid-continued-story after New Comics #4, then moved to Comics Magazine #1 May 1936, published by Centaur Publications, for one more episode, then ended completely.
