Thomas Jefferson was the third President of the United States. Prior to this he was also the second Vice President of the United States, working underneath his predecessor John Adams. He was an important political figure during the American War of Independence.

Prior to his political career, Jefferson was interested in occult rituals. In 1765 he was part of a secret cabal with a man named Jacob Stockman. They attempted to summon and tame the bat daemon known as Barbathos. This ceremony involved sacrificing a young girl named Dominique, but Jefferson did not realize they intended to actually murder her. He intervened to save the girl from Stockman. The daemon had already been summoned, and they were attacked by a bat-like creature.[1] The occultists fled and they sealed the underground temple behind them, with Dominique still inside. This experience lead Jefferson to abandon the occult and pursue politics instead.[2] It was later revealed that Doctor Hurt was one of the other occultists present.[3]
