Few cars look quite like the Porsche 930 Turbo Slantnose It’s what makes it one of the rarest and most sought after of all 911 sportscars. First made officially available to Porsche customers via the Sonderwunsch programme (or special requests programme) as an option for the 930 Turbo, it was known in German as the Flachbau – translated as Slantnose, or Flatnose as the car is also known, in English. With the electrification of the Macan, #Porsche has introduced a completely new display and control system into its successful SUV model. The Porsche Driver Experience offers a mix of digital and analogue elements. These include: ▶️ an instrument cluster with a 12.6-inch curved display ▶️ a 10.9-inch passenger display ▶️ a head-up display with augmented reality technology ▶️ ambient lighting with a communication light Further, the design of the screens for all Macan models have been upgraded. A duo of half-century anniversaries! Fifty years of Turbo – the model designation that has produced some of the most capable and iconic sports cars in history – and 50 years since the opening of the Transfăgărășan Highway, often claimed ‘best driving road in the world’. #Porsche held a special event celebrating the two half-centuries. In a fitting tribute to the highway’s 50th anniversary, Porsche Central and Eastern Europe welcomed 60 journalists from 16 countries to take part in a 300-km drive celebrating 50 years of Turbo. The media guests had the opportunity to drive current and modern-era Turbo models, such as the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid with GT Package, and the 992-generation 911 Turbo S. The Porsche Museum also temporarily let loose some of its classic Turbo icons, including a 930-generation 911 Turbo 3.3, a 964-generation 911 Turbo 3.6, and – last of the air-cooled era – a 993-generation 911 Turbo S. A pattern with a history ... Tartan fabrics symbolise tradition and craftsmanship, belonging and confidence. Exactly 50 years ago, three tartans could be found on the options list exclusively for the #Porsche 911 Turbo. It wasn’t until the 1976 model year that they appeared in the 911. The new #Porsche 911 is brimming with tech and assistance systems. ParkAssist system, which includes a reversing camera, Lane Keeping Assist, cruise control, traffic sign recognition, including curve warning and fatigue detection, are all part of the standard equipment. But 911 models can be further equipped with additional assistance systems that further increase driving comfort and safety. The 911 GTS models come with the Sport Chrono package, including stopwatch, Porsche Track Precision app and tyre temperature display, which all come as standard on the GTS models. #Porsche takes driver development, technical expertise, and racetrack adventure and turns them into unique experiences. Fifty years ago, this triumvirate led to the founding of the “Porsche Sportfahrschule.” Sports cars from Zuffenhausen are easy to start and well suited for comfortable travel. But with this style of driving, what a Porsche is capable of in terms of driving dynamics is often left unexplored. True appreciation of the engineering expertise can be felt more intensely during more spirited driving. Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Herbert Linge recognized this as early as in the 1950s. Back then, von Hanstein was both race director and chief press officer. Linge made history as a works and development driver, then subsequently as the initiator of the ONS safety crew and as operations manager in Weissach. According to his records, the first driving training to officially involve Porsche was held in Lugano, Switzerland, on April 8, 1954.
