The Fa Family Temple is a location in Disney's Mulan. It is a small temple that is situated on a hilltop nearby the Fa Family Home, where the graves of the deceased members of the Fa family rest. The living members of the Fa Family often go there to pray for guidance.
Background[]
The Temple is comprised of a bunch of tombstones written in Chinese that house the spirits of the deceased members of the Fa Family. During the night when Mulan leaves to pose as a male to partake in the army the to spare her ailing father the burden of war, Grandmother Fa prays the ancestors to watch over her. The spirits of the Fa ancestors come alive to talk about how to deal with this problem which ultimately culminates in a former guardian, the dragon Mushu, to inadvertently take up the responsibility of watching over Mulan.
It's later seen again at the end where the ancestors celebrate Mulan's victory.
It is seen again in Mulan II where Mushu is informed by the ancestors that Mulan's marriage to Li Shang will result in her no longer needing him as a family guardian. In the end though, when Shang decides to combine his temple with Mulan's, Mushu gets to keep his job as guardian.
