Way down yonder in the Briar Patch[]

Uncle Remus tells Johnny a story about Br'er Rabbit meeting Miss Meadows and sitting down on her porch and tells Miss Meadows and her daughters about how Br'er Fox used to be his riding horse, and how he used to ride on him. The next day, Br'er Fox went over to Miss Meadows' place, and when he started to laugh and sneer about Br'er Rabbit, they told him what Br'er Rabbit said. This made Br'er Fox humiliated and started to grit his teeth about how upset he was. He then said to them that he'd make Br'er Rabbit eat his own words. Br'er Fox went over to Br'er Rabbit's house and Br'er Rabbit was expecting for him to come over to his place, and Br'er Fox knocked on his door three times until he heard him while Br'er Rabbit asked him if he could get a doctor (which it was another trick), the parsley that he ate from his morning breakfast made him upset. But Br'er Fox told him that he had come over to get him, and planned on a trick by telling him that he and Miss Meadows were planning a party, and there wouldn't be a party if Br'er Rabbit wasn't there.

Br'er Rabbit said he couldn't walk, so Br'er Fox said that he could offer him a ride to Miss Meadows' place, on his back. Br'er Rabbit agreed to him and used a saddle to attach to Br'er Fox's back and Br'er Fox's leads Br'er Rabbit to Miss Meadows' place. Then Br'er Rabbit began to put spurs on his feet, which made Br'er Fox curious about what he was planning to do. Then Br'er Rabbit used his feet to ride Br'er Fox like a horse. As they arrived at Miss Meadows' place, Miss Meadows and her daughters were on the veranda, but Br'er Rabbit didn't stop at her place, as they rode to the hitchin' rail and Br'er Rabbit tied Br'er Fox to the rail.

Miss Meadows and her daughters were amazed by Br'er Rabbit as Br'er Fox felt humiliated again and was furious.
