The Tropical Toucans are characters from the Jungle Cruise attraction at the Disney Parks.
History[]
Background[]
These toucans are shown to inhabit a part of the jungle that represents the Amazon river. They would occasionally be shown at the beginning of the attraction as one of the first animals that can be spotted along the way along with butterflies - albeit in the left side of the attraction. Whenever guests pass by the toucans in the attraction, they would curiously turn their heads back and forth - implying that toucans are very curious of seeing what is around their habitat.
Development History[]
Prior to 1995, the boats used to enter the jungle at the start of the attraction where toucans would be seen turning their heads back and forth. These birds would be seen with the butterflies below them. The other animals aside from the toucans and the butterflies consist of a hornbill in peril of being eaten by crocodiles and the scene after that would be the ruins of an ancient Asian temple. At some unknown date between 1994-1995, the first two scenes were replaced with a new entry in the Jungle Cruise attraction to make way for Indiana Jones Adventure, thus removing the scene where three toucans appear; the hornbill was relocated within the queue of the attraction as part of the refurbishment.[1][2]
Despite the refurbishment, two toucans still exist in the attraction where they and the butterflies are seen as one of the first animals in the attraction. Additionally, the toucan trio can also be seen in the Tokyo Disneyland version, as the first two scenes originally used in the California version of Jungle Cruise, despite the removal.

Jungle Cruise[]
In the Disneyland version of the attraction, two (originally three) toucans can be seen at the beginning of the attraction in a scene that represents the Amazon River. They are seen watching visitors pass by them, along with butterflies, just as the boats enter the ruins of an ancient Asian temple.
In the Tokyo Disneyland version, three toucans can be seen on the right side of the attraction where they are one of the first animals seen, alongside butterflies. Like in the Disneyland version, the toucans would turn their heads back and forth to seen what is going on upon seeing the guests.
In the Hong Kong Disneyland version of the attraction when the guests ride via Disneyland Railroad via Main Street Station, the train passes through the Jungle Cruise attraction; two toucans are seen perched on a tree with the Jungle Cruise attraction behind them as they curiously turn their heads back and forth to seen what is going on.
Aside from appearing in animatronic form, an illustration of a toucan also appears on the Amazonian River Fantasy map located in the queue in the Magic Kingdom version of the attraction.

Jungle Cruise[]
Toucans have a minor role in the 2021 Disney live-action film based on the attraction, in addition to a toucan decoy appearing in the film.
Two toucans are first seen at the beginning of the film playing with each other during the part where Frank Wolff is giving a tour to a group of tourists across the Amazon River, just as he describes the toucans' behaviors to the guests. Later, more toucans are one of the animals captured by smugglers who are putting them in danger, as Lily Houghton plans to open the cage to free the birds, only for Lily to be caged as well. While in the cage, Lily grabs a hairpin from a woman so that she can use it as a key to unlock the cage. Suddenly when the cage where Lily was placed is suddenly opened (due to the lock which Lily opened using the hairpin), the toucans are suddenly rescued, just as Lily herself fights against the thugs. While being led by Frank during a brawl at the marketplace, Lily plans to escape into the La Quila with her younger brother present while evading the thugs, to which she uses a zip line to evade them just as Lily finally manages to go onboard and escape the thugs. With the toucans rescued, Lily and McGregor continue their adventure. No other sentient toucans appear throughout the rest of the film.

Disneyland/Disney World Ticket Discount Commercial[]
In a 2010/2011 commercial for the Disneyland Resort/Walt Disney World Resort's ticket discount, toucans engage in a private conversation where no humans are around where they talk with various animals encountered at the section representing African fauna. During the conversation, the toucan on the left side of a branch discusses with its partner, saying that it will discuss with the other animals about ticket discount.
