It is often featured in flight timetables, airport departure boards and other airline marketing as Kokkola-Pietarsaari or Karleby-Jakobstad. Regular airliners to this airfield are Finnair and Finncomm Airlines. During winters, the airport is also used by charter flight airliners with a destination to southern Europe. The airport has two runways.

In 2006, 98,176 passengers traveled via the airport.
