Baja Ferries (or also known as: bajaferries S.A) is a Mexican shipping company dedicated to maritime transport in the Sea of Cortes.
It was founded in 2003 for ferry transportation between the two Mexican states of Baja California Sur and Sinaloa.
Overview
[edit]Baja Ferries was born as a shipping company in 2003 with its strength being the transport of cargo and passengers between the ports of Topolobampo and Mazatlán in Sinaloa, to Pichilingue in Baja California Sur. Currently, after changes in the company, it is consolidated as a logistics group.
This new line of business no longer offers services from port to port, but "door to door", through its own companies such as Transportadora Geos and with business alliances with the railway and trucking.
Mariano Ruano Boza, founder and current Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baja Ferries commented: “We are a family business, but also a highly competitive company", with corporate governance. Since 2003 we have been acquiring different vessels such as the “California Star” the flagship, which operated until 2019 and was replaced with a ship with greater cargo capacity, we have never wanted to be left behind or leave trucks in port due to lack of space”, emphasized the businessman when referring to the purchase of the "Mexico Star" a unique ship of its kind in Latin America.
