The unit of storage is "work," not just "edition" #1058
Comments
Currently, works do exist as a concept in the database (and there is work-specific data stored, like the canonical title and some identifiers), but they aren't shown directly to the user. There is a page that shows all the editions of a work, which I think addresses your last point (https://www.bookwyrm.social/book/54155/editions, for example). Can you tell me a little more about what you mean by collections of works? I'm not sure I understand that. |
Sorry for my English. :) For an example, check out this anthology: https://www.amazon.com/Other-Worlds-These-Joseph-Adams/dp/1597804339 It contains stories by many authors. Appropriately: |
I got an example. And it's all one book, one edition (the same cover is now uploaded for all links). And this book has no ISBN. It really would be very good to have difference (separate titles/data fields for work and edition). |
We need the unit of storage "work," not just "edition".
This would allow us to handle collections of works, including those written by different authors.
Evaluate and write a revision for a particular work, not just the entire collection.
It will also make it possible to find which editions the work has been in.
