☆ PDF Digital Sewing Pattern for Layla Parachute Dress ☆ This digital sewing pattern allows you to construct a midi-maxi length, sleeveless dress with a high, straight neckline and low, scooping back. The back of the dress is fastened with an invisible zip, for a clean tailored look. Most unique about this dress is its parachute style skirt, achieved through a series of godet panels which give lots of texture and movement. The hem of the dress has a total circumference of approximately 5 metres making it incredibly flowy- perfect for dancing or spinning in. The bust, waist and hips of this dress are fitted before flowing out just below the waist, creating a drop-waist appearance. The design shown throughout these instructions follows a straight cut, however if you desire more drape in your garment, this design will also work well on a bias cut. This pattern is suitable for confident beginner - intermediate sewers and will take approximately 8 hours to complete. REQUIRED FABRIC AND NOTIONS: *3 metres (3 1/4 Yards) of 150cm (60") wide fabric *12" invisible zip FABRIC SUGGESTIONS: This dress will look best in light to mid-weight (low stretch) fabrics such as cotton, linen, crepe twill, poly, etc. However, you can always get creative and try it out with a different fabric! The dress pictured is made with a linen. To make your skirt more sustainable, why not use a second-hand duvet cover or pillowcases! PRINTING & PATTERN ASSSEMBLY Print pattern out at 100% scale on your home printer and do not select 'scale to fit' as this will skew the pattern sizing. Ensure that your scale is correct by first printing the page with the test square and check it is the intended size using a ruler. Once you're sure your scale is correct, print out the pattern sheets and line them up on a large flat surface with row A1-9 at the top, followed by B1-9 (etc.). Attach the sheets using tape, lining up cutting lines and using the quarter circles at the edge of each sheet to form full circles. Overlapping of sheets may be required. IMPORTANT INFORMATION It is useful to first create a prototype using scrap fabric to allow for any necessary changes to the pattern measurements. The lower skirt piece is not included in the printable pattern, however you will need to measure and cut this out in addition to complete your dress. It should be a strip of fabric approximately 18cm (7") wide EITHER 5 metres (5 1/2 yards) long (for UK sizes 6-12) OR 5.2 metres long (5 7/10 yards) (for UK sizes 14-20). This is split into 2 x 1m (1 1/10 yards) strips and 2 x 1.6m (1 ¾ yards) strips in the suggested cutting layout. I would recommend just measuring out these strips using measuring tape and pins. This pattern has been designed this way to keep paper usage to a minimum to avoid waist! Instructions and Pattern are written in English only. PURCHASE ONLY INCLUDES DIGITAL FILES LISTED.
