The Cheval Fugitive is a four-door sports sedan featured in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.
Design[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The Fugitive appears to be primarily based on the Holden VE Commodore, with the headlights and the bonnet taken from the first-generation Chevrolet Volt. The chrome bar across the rear might have been inspired by the third-generation Holden Caprice. Minor details such as the grille and flat rear fascia resemble those of the seventh-generation Chevrolet Malibu. The rear bumper and the exhaust seem to be taken from the fifth-generation Buick Regal. The wheels were inspired by the Pontiac G8 GXP.
The vehicle is depicted with a rather sporty appearance, where the front bumper features a main central vent with a chromed detail on the surrounding and the license plate partially covering it. Either side of this vent there are two, less tall vents, whose inner edges are parallel to the outer edges of the central vent. Above the central vent there is a large main grille with chrome edges and an horizontal separation splitting it into two halves, bearing the Cheval emblem on the centre. The headlamp units have curved lower edges which almost continue the curvature of the bottom edge of the grille, and house circular main lamps and outer amber signals. The bonnet/hood has a main elevated area, whose edges run from a top corner of the main grille to their corresponding windscreen corner.
The side of the car are basic and use flared arches and skirts, together with horizontal door handles. The cabin has black trimming around the windows, a rear separation on the rear doors and rear-view mirrors with black finish on the lower portions. The boot/trunk area is relatively small compared to the bonnet/hood and has a curved end resembling a ducktail spoiler.
The rear of the car is dominated by the boot/trunk lid with a chrome strip, the Cheval emblem above and the silver lettering on the passenger side. The outer portions of the car house the turn signals and the main lamps, while the boot/trunk lid houses the brake and reverse lamps, beside the chrome strip. The bumper slightly extends past the rear section and holds the license plate on the centre. Two exhaust tubes can be seen at the bottom, having a trapezium shape. The interior is the same used on cars like the Stanier and the Taxi, which also uses the same analog dial set in the enhanced version.
The car only spawns in a variety of single colours applied on the bodywork. It uses a unique set of 10-spoke rims, wrapped in low-profile tyres.

Performance[]
Grand Theft Auto V and Online[]
The Fugitive is one of the fastest four-door sedans in the game, bearing what is modeled as a twin-cam 4 cylinder engine, the car is powered to high speeds in above average times. The top speed is also very high for its class, and due to its above average handling, it is able to keep at a high speed when controlled professionally, enabling the vehicle to perform tight maneuvers around traffic. On the downside, due to its high power combined with its sharp handling, some oversteer is still present, however, when controlled by a skilled driver, this may not pose a problem. Braking is also acceptable for a vehicle of its class, although it can be considered beaten by other vehicles in Sedans, and many in the Sports class.
Overall, the Fugitive is average for its class, sharing average handling and acceleration, though an impressive top speed, similar to what is produced other performance cars in the game.
Its engine sound is shared with muscle cars like the Gauntlet, the Sabre Turbo and the Buffalo S.

Trivia[]
General[]
- Southern San Andreas Super Autos states that there is a police version of the Fugitive. Besides referencing the Chevrolet Caprice, this also could be referencing that the LAPD considered using the Pontiac G8 as a police car before Pontiac went defunct in 2010.[1] Interestingly, the police scanner audio files mention "Police Fugitive", meaning there was indeed one in the beta.[2] There are also blue lights in the Fugitive's light textures.[3]
- The vehicle was mistakenly referred to as the Vapid Fugitive on the Southern San Andreas Super Autos website in the 1.06 update. A Newswire article from 23rd December 2013 also refers to it under this name.
- After the 1.10 patch, Rockstar acknowledged the mistake and fixed it so it is now referred to as the "Cheval Fugitive".
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
- In the introduction, if the player selects the Fugitive as the starting car, Lamar Davis mentions that he used to own one.
Oversights[]
The Fugitive suffers from two minor quality control issues:
- The front bumper appears to be modeled incorrectly when matching up with the front quarter panels.
- The passenger-side also appear to be modeled incorrectly when matching up to the front quarter panels.
