Alex is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Juniper) of the 2013 film Walking with Dinosaurs. He is an Alexornis, the best friend and mentor of Patchi and the narrator of the movie.
He is voiced by John Leguizamo, who was as Luigi in the 1993 film Super Mario Bros., Aurelio in the John Wick trilogy, voiced Sid in the Ice Age films and Bruno in the 2021 Disney animated film Encanto.

His exact nature is unknown, as in the bizarre universe of the film, he is shown to be a (totally unexplained) talking rook who can shape shift into an Alexornis, travel through time, and psychically communicate to people as well as dinosaurs.
In spite of being shown to have lived in Alaska for approximately 70 million years (his immortality is also unexplained) he has a Mexican accent, and he often feels a need to talk over ever potentially poetic or emotional scene, apparently with the intention of sucking the emotion out of it, or irritating the viewer.
He enjoys eating dinosaurs' tooth decay and insects.

- Alex speaks with a Mexican accent, as of real-life, Alexornis fossils have only been found in Baja California in Mexico.
