The Sheikah Tribe are a mysterious secretive race who appear in The Legend of Zelda franchise. The goddess Hylia chose them to be the guides and defenders of the mortal incarnation of herself. The only known Sheikah in earlier installments was Impa.

Physiology[]

The Sheikah are well-known for their trademark white hair, red eyes, and pointed ears, which the latter trait is also shared with the Hylians. They are also known for their capability of utilizing dark magic to combat evil spirits.

The Sheikah are longer lived than the other races though not as long as the Zora Tribe, as shown with Impa as she was in her 20's when Calamity Ganon returned and is in the triple digits by the time Link awakened, and Purah was 24 and eventually turned 124, and Robbie was also around when the terrible tragedy took place and are all at their old age (though Purah would have her age reversed), so the Sheikah can live only a few decades longer.

Breath of the Wild[]

The Sheikah Tribe are much more abundant than they previously were and no longer restricted to just Impa existing. In the distant past, the Sheikah were depicted as scientists who were responsible for the existence of ancient Sheikah technology which they have used to improve the lives of many people, notable cases included the Sheikah Slate, the Divine Beasts, and the Guardians. Their work was praised by the goddesses, and they were used in the battle against Calamity Ganon which they, with the princess and her hero, sealing it away for numerous millennia. However, sometime after that, the king of Hyrule became paranoid of the full extent of technological power that these machines have and have exiled the Sheikah as a result. Most Sheikah understood the magnitude of the dangers their work might possibly cause and have them buried within the earth and resolved to live simple lives while some of them were harshly resentful towards the Royal Family for oppressing them which they isolated themselves and would eventually become the Yiga Clan.

The Sheikah would play an essential role a hundred years before Breath of the Wild takes place, and they have excavated all of the technology that was long dormant in wake of the prophesy that Calamity Ganon is about to return and set out to get them working again. They let the Royal Family know that four elite warriors will be needed to control the Divine Beasts with the four being Daruk, Mipha, Revali, and Urbosa and worked on getting the Sheikah Slate and the Guardians back to working order. Later on, when Link was mortally wounded, and Princess Zelda awoke her powers to protect him and being notified that Link still has a chance to make it through, two Sheikah warriors check on them as the princess orders them to get Link to the Shrine of Resurrection. Impa would take charge in maintaining the devastated Hyrule with no members of the Royal Family left, with the Queen of Hyrule and King Rhoam dead and Zelda holding Calamity Ganon back with her power.

The Sheikah all live in Kakariko Village with Impa as their chief. They play a role regarding various sidequests and supporting Link whenever they can.

Tears of the Kingdom[]

With the Upheaval occurring, various Zonai ruins tend to fall out of the sky with some of them falling near Kakariko Village. Impa has retired from her role as the chief due to old age and passed the title to her timid granddaughter, Paya.
