Syd is a recurring protagonist seen in the Gravity Rush series.
History[]
Past[]
Syd was originally one of the royal subjects of Queen Alua, only for him to be betrayed by his friend Xicero and presumably died. He was however revived by Bit and was sent to Heksvile.
Gravity Rush[]
Syd was first seen being surrounded by Nevi, only for Kat and Dusty to help him out. He was later seen when the girl with the cat became popular and gave her the name Kat. At one point, Syd decided to join the Police Department of Heksvile, only to later become Alias and tricked Kat to take a sacred gem from the fountain, only to pretend to be knocked out and later told the Police force that Kat was tricked by Alias, allowing her to be a part time police agent. Syd and Kat would later work together to capture Alias after he was revived, or rather when Kat's Number 1 Fan pretended to be Alias and terrorized the city just to be with her, only to return to the police station with a bill from Aki and Pandora. After Kat disappeared for a year, the Police force, including Syd were later forced to act more military-like due to Alderman D'nelica becoming the new mayor of Heksvile. Although everything went back to normal when Kat, Raven and Yunica destroyed the Sea Anemone, that was being controlled by a few Nevi cores.
Gravity Rush 2[]
Both Syd and Kat were seen working in Banga under the command of Lisa to collect precious gems from minion areas. Although after a day at work, Syd feel asleep in the chicken coop. Syd was later seen playing with a robot hand, when Lisa and discussing a deal with Vogo Sun and Fi Sun. After the Banga settlement won a contest to complete their deal with the Sun brothers and headed to Jirga Para Lhoa, Syd was seen playing on his guitar and asked Kat to fetch him a few mechanical parts to recreate his robot hand. Syd was also later seen speaking to a wealthy woman in the rich part of Jirga Para Lhoa, where he asked Kat to help her, possibly in hopes of taking some of her money to the Banga settlement. Syd was later seen with Cecie to help Kat and Raven in their battle against a hoard of Nevi that was destroying Jirga Para Lhoa, only for Syd to disappear some time afterwards. Syd may have been helping Kat, Raven and Lisa behind the seen, by making both Kat and Raven fight against Dr. Braham and Kali Angel, while allowing Lisa and the entire dimension that held Jirga Para Lhoa to cross over with the dimension that held Heksvile. Kat and Raven were talking about Syd when they tried to reach the top of the world pilar. Syd later appeared where Kat was fighting against a Destructive Force by sending a hoard of Nevi to fight against it. After the Destroctive Force was defeated, Syd possibly went back to working with the Police Department of Heksvile.
Trivia[]
- During the time of original game's release, many fans theorized that Syd was the game's antagonist, Alias. This was later confirmed during the sequal's ending, where Alias acted more as an ally in said game.
- Syd apppears in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale as a DLC minion.
