My name is Klaus. The Architect of this world. I have watched over you all this time. I have seen your thoughts. Your desires. The things you have achieved.
~ The Architect's introduction.

The Architect (Japanese: 創生の神, Sōsei no kami, lit. God of creation), is the overarching protagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Regarded as the Divine Father, he is a deity, along with whom humans, were once said to inhabit Elysium, the fabled paradise supposed to be on the top of the World Tree. It is said that the Architect sent his loyal servants to save humanity after they were cast out from Elysium.

It is later revealed that the Architect was in fact a scientist known as Klaus, who attempted to ascend to godhood and create a new world in an experiment, with a mysterious object known as the Conduit. However, the experiment brought upon the destruction of his own home world and as an act of atonement, he sought out to rebuild it anew.

He is voiced by Shintarō Asanuma and Adam Howden in the Japanese and English versions of the game..

History[]

Xenoblade Chronicles 2[]

The Architect was once a scientist known as Klaus, who sought to create a new universe using the power of the Conduit. He worked working alongside Galea on the First Low Orbit Station orbiting Earth prior to the events of Xenoblade Chronicles. To bring mankind closer to divinity, Klaus decided to use the Conduit while the station was under attack by the Saviorites. The creation of the new universe was a success, and Bionis and Mechonis subsequently came into being; half of Klaus, called Zanza, was transported to the new universe to become Bionis, while Galea was transported as well, becoming Mechonis.

The other half of Klaus remained in the original world, where he became wracked by guilt over what he had done. Eventually, in an attempt to atone for his mistakes, he began to try and rebuild the old world by forming Alrest and the Cloud Sea.
