Chords showing on tire
These tires have reached the end of their lifespans. Tires should be replaced when any chords are showing or the tire tread is low. It’s also a good idea to be watchful of how your tires are wearing. One of the tires on an Audi A8 had inner tire wear. Because the problem wasn’t addressed, the tire blew.
When is a vehicle’s tire repairable?
Realizing you have a flat tire can be frustrating and potentially nerve-wracking. Perhaps it’s noticeably flat or you checked the tire pressure and saw that it’s lower than the rest. If you find yourself in this situation – and it’s safe to do so – try filling the tire with air and getting it to a nearby auto repair shop. But be careful – choosing to drive on a flat tire could lead to more tire damage. Depending on how bad the leak is, you might want to put on a spare tire or call a tow truck. When in doubt, these may be your best (and safest) options. Once the vehicle has arrived at an autoshop, the technicians can determine if the tire may be salvaged or if it’s time for you to start shopping for a new one.

Swollen lug nuts on Toyota Camry
The lug nuts and wheel studs may need to be replaced on a Toyota Camry soon. When checking the tires, we saw the lug nuts were swollen. This problem can be a result of rust buildup. Removing a vehicle’s wheels can be more challenging when the lug nuts are damaged or rusted.
Old tires on Ford Explorer
It’s time for tire replacement on a Ford Explorer. All new tires are needed, due to age. These tires were produced in 2018. Tires should be changed by the time they reach the 8 to 10-year mark. Some may be swapped out at 6 years or sooner. The lifespan can be impacted by a tire’s quality, treadwear, weather conditions, and tire damage.
Uneven tire wear and what it could mean
Sometime in the past or perhaps recently, you may have needed to replace your car tires. Maybe you had an unrepairable tire due to a puncture, or the tire tread was low. You might have also been told that the tires were wearing unevenly. These wearing patterns – depending on the location – can indicate certain problems. Uneven tire wear problems include: • Choppy wear throughout tire • Too much tire wearing on the inside or outside • Middle of tire becoming worn • Wear on the inner and outer edges
Why you should go to a place with tire professionals
Today, numerous products can be ordered online, including car parts. Some consumers have found that they can save money by purchasing tires this way. However, the cheaper option might not be the best in the long run. When considering tires, it’s important to choose a high quality tire that’s the right fit for your vehicle. We recommend choosing the best option you can afford. What many drivers don’t realize is that how the tires are purchased and installed can be as important as the tires themselves. We had a customer who bought tires online. After they were installed, the driver realized that they weren’t happy with their purchase. It’s good to look at reviews online, but sometimes being able to talk to someone with experience can be very helpful.

Replacing bad tires
These tires have seen better days. They are a couple of bad tires we saw this week. New tires are needed if the tread depth is at or near 2/32 of an inch, cracks have developed in the sidewall, chords are visible, and a flat tire isn’t reparable. You don’t want to go beyond 8 or 10 years before replacing tires. Depending on the weather and tire wear, they may need to be changed out sooner.
Tire pressure and why it matters
Are any of your car’s tires looking lower than normal? You may have a flat tire, or it could have something to do with the outside temperature. As winter approaches, it’s important to keep an eye on your vehicle’s tire pressure. This is especially true if you are planning to travel long distances for the holiday season or winter vacations. Tire pressure is one of the items our automotive technicians check when performing a digital vehicle inspection.
