Are you teaching consonant blends to your elementary students? Today I am sharing the steps I take when teaching this phonics skill to my students. I start off by teaching what consonant blends are and then I have students do a quick consonant blends activity by tapping out the sounds. Then I introduce graphemes. I like to use successive blending when teaching students to decode words. I like to then have students decode words in sentences. Then they get to play consonant blends games!
