Both blending and segmenting are the building blocks of reading and writing . 

While we always focus on teaching kids to blend the sounds together into words , segmenting is equally important for them as it helps in mapping sounds that further develops strong reading and writing skills .

In this activity we practiced floss rule words and broke it down into individual sounds . This approach of using hand on technique with legos really helps the young minds to map the sounds in their brain instead of doing it orally which actually can be really abstract for them.
