Using shadows, highlights, and midtones, I created this drawing of a shell and it was my first drawing using a pencil to create the different tones and how they compliment each other. Unlike the charcoal and chalk drawing, it was less expressive and more restricted to use a pencil because it doesn't smudge as easily and gives only a very dark grey colour for the shadows, instead of being completely black.
