Here is how I get a smooth as glass finish on cabinets and furniture with just a brush and roller. 🎨Here are the tried and true steps I use:: A. Pre-Sand your piece with sequentially higher grit sandpaper (80-120-220-340) 🎨a smooth surface is your best friend B. Wipe it clean with denatured alcohol prior to painting & EVERY TIME after you sand anything 🎨a clean surface is your best friend C. Prime with a shellac based primer. My favorite is BIN. In fact, it’s the only one I EVER buy. (And yes, I buy it with my own hard earned cash. This is not a sales pitch 🤨) 🎨AND have your paint store tint the primer to match your p

A little tip for the way I choose paint colors for a space: I don't use multiple whites for the same space; I just vary the sheen. For example, if it it says, “white dove,” and I don't specify another color, it just means that I used white dove for the walls, ceiling and trim. I do this because white paint colors tend the bring out each other’s differences (in my opinion in a negative way—ie brighter whites next to warmer whites make otherwise non sallow colors look yellow). In addition, I think using the same white and changing the sheen allows your eye to experience the space continuously without an incongruous and visually unnecessary break.
