Emily Riter on Instagram: "When we bought this home the backyard was just a big patch of bermuda grass with some plantings along the perimeter. We wanted to have a big enough open space and at first I was hesitant to make the yard smaller with more plantings but as we designed the landscape we felt we were actually making several meaningful spaces. We found the form, definition, and height made it feel even larger. We now have several outdoor rooms & living spaces along with a carriage house in the same footprint as our one shapeless space before. We created the form using boxwood & thuja varieties to create the border around our hydrangeas and the outdoor walls that define each space. We also planted tons of Incrediball hydrangeas amidst the boxwood.
