Flaptacks are enemies found in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They make their debut appearance in the Fluffy Bluff Galaxy. They are oversized blue birds with a yellow spike on their head and attack Mario/Luigi by dropping down on them.
Behaviour[]
Flaptacks attack by flipping upside-down and smashing into Mario with the horn on the top side of their body. This attack can destroy Cloud Mario's clouds, although despite their slam attack carrying them down quickly at lightning speed, Mario can sidestep the oncoming attack due to their slow movement speed and windup compared to his relatively quick running speed. They are easiest defeated when they have dived down in to the ground and get dizzy by the fall. Flaptacks can be defeated in their dizzy state by ramming into them or stomping on their underside, they can also be defeated in midair with either a Star Spin or by having Yoshi swallow them. A Flaptack that falls off the stage will automatically be defeated as it burns up and explodes.
Appearance[]
Flaptacks are big birds with a horn on their head and no legs. The upper part of their body and their wings are covered with a thick blue coating, while their underbelly is covered with fluffy yellow feathers. They attack by throwing themselves on the ground, trying to stab the enemy with their horn. They appear to be related to Swaphoppers: they share the same color scheme and a similar shape, they both have a spike on their head and are vulnerable when they flip over.
Flaptacks are found in several open and windy galaxies such as the Fluffy Bluff and Cloudy Court Galaxy. They are also found in the Flash Black Galaxy.

- Their name is a pun on flapjacks and tacks, with the "flap" part referring to their method of locomotion and the "tack" referring to the spike on their head.
- The Flaptack's appearance strongly resembles that of one of the Birds from Angry Birds.
