Mario Party

Mini Baseball League is one of the 4 "Toad's Rec Room" minigames found in Super Mario Party. This Mini Game is similar to Real-Life Baseball but there are still many differences.

Gameplay[]

Opening[]

When opening Mini League Baseball from Toad's Rec Room, you are asked how many characters are going to play and if 2v2 is selected, who is the teammate of who. When starting Mini League Baseball, you are asked how many innings you want to play. The three options are 3, 6 and 9, from 9 being the longest and 3 being the least.

Positions[]

The positions of the players depend on how many are actually playing. In 2v2, there are 2 players on each team as the term insists. Those two teams are defense and offense. On the defensive team, one player mans the Baseball launcher while the other mans the 3 catchers. When one catcher moves, all catchers move. The positions of both players swap the next inning. On the offensive team, both players are batters. They take turns swinging hits at the ball. For 1v1, there is only one player on each team as the term insists as well. 1v1 also uses a defensive and an offensive team. On the defensive team, that one defensive player controls the baseball launcher. The catchers however go unmanned as they move on there own automatically. On the offensive team, the one player on that team plays as the batter and doesn't swap between successful hits with another batter as done in 2v2.

In-Play[]

The game starts when the pitcher (0n the defensive team) launches their first shot. They can choose between a fast or a slow launch. On the other team, the batter(s) objective is to successfully hit the ball (This means that the ball doesn't get hit into the foul area and doesn't get hit into one of the catchers). The batter(s) can position themself from the left or right to change the outcome of their hit. Depending on that factor, the ball can either get hit toward the foul area, towards one of the bonus doors or anywhere else where it would count as a hit or be counted as a out if it gets caught into one of the catchers. About the bonus doors, there are seven of them in total. The six main ones are in sets of three, each mirroring each other. The last one being behind the central catcher and in the middle of those two sets of three doors. When the ball successfully lands into one of the seven bonus doors and depending which one it lands into, it would be counted as a Single, Double, Triple or even a Home Run. A Home Run happens when the timing and positioning of the hit the batter gives off is just right and perfect. When a Single happens, it is the equivalent of a Hit (A Hit is when the ball doesn't land into one of the bonus doors, one of the catchers or into one of the foul areas. A Hit is considered good) meaning that the pitcher and all toads on the bases (if there is any) move up once (essentially, they move to the next base or the pitcher moves to the first base). If the batter lands on one of the three bases, a toad is placed there after they leave to bat again. If its a Double, all offensive players move up twice. If its a Triple, all offensive players move up three times. If that base happens to be the Home Plate, it is scored as one point for the team that scored it. If the batter scores a home run, all toads on the field (Again, if any) and the batter move to the Home Plate. However, other things can and will happen. One of those things is that the Batter either misses the ball or hits it into the foul area. If one of those two things happen, its counted as a strike. The Batter can get up to three strikes before they strikeout (it means that the team gets an Out and depending if they haven't gotten a third Out, the batters swap). One thing to take note of however is that the Batter cant strikeout if they hit a foul ball. Once the Offensive team gets three outs, they swap with the Defensive team to become defense. A Inning ends when both teams get three outs. This entire process is repeated until all Innings have been completed. The team that scores the most points wins.
