Ernest St. Ives (Earth-616)

Ernest St Ives was a French soldier in World War I when he fell into a trench and mustard gas flowed in. When Death came to take St Ives, he refused to go and Death did not take him. Death left a parting gift that St Ives discovered when another soldier came to his aid. The moment that St Ives touched him, the soldier fell, dead. St Ives now killed whomever he touched with his skin. He sadly killed his wife by merely hugging her.^[1]

St Ives eventually realized that he was immortal and he began to enjoy his power. He amassed a rather powerful base by the time that he moved to Quebec. There, he became a powerful criminal with no interference until he killed Raymonde Belmonde, an old friend of Northstar's, and took Aurora captive. Northstar stormed Deadly Ernest's home only to be knocked out when he saw Aurora flirting with him. When he awoke, he was met by the blade of Nemesis. She was sworn to slay him and apparently did so by cutting him into several pieces.^[2]

St Ives was still not taken by Death. Instead, his remains were taken to the same Montreal hospital that housed Scramble. Scramble put Deadly Ernest's body back together and he returned to life. Alpha was finally able to beat him, again with the help of Nemesis. His body was seemingly completely destroyed so it is unlikely that he could come back once again.^[3]

• Death Touch: Able to kill anyone by merely touching them flesh to flesh, which causes them to disperse their life force.^[4] However, if their life force is returned to their body soon after their death they might come back to life.^[5]
• Immortality: Deadly Ernest is immortal, having not aged since World War I^[6] and can animate some of his body parts even if they have been severed and he can still talk even after decapitation.^[5]
