History

Victory the Electromagnetic Man, a member of the Squadron Sinister, was present when his team confronted the Avengers on behalf of the Grandmaster. He was pitted against the Avenger Voyager in Pisa, Italy. As soon as the fight started, Voyager's Portal Field reacted with Victory's own Electro-Field, resulting in a devastating explosion that outright disintegrated Victory, while Voyager was phased out of existence.[1]

On Earth-616, Voyager was not a member of the Avengers. She was instead a sleeper agent sent by the Grandmaster to infiltrate the group of heroes during a challenge against the Challenger. In order to succeed in her plan, Voyager altered the memories of the Avengers to make them believe she was a long-standing member.[2] These memory alterations mirrored the events surrounding Victory's death.[3]

Attributes

Powers

Electro-Field: Victory possessed the ability to project an energy field that could alter the electromagnetic spectrum. It allegedly granted him contol over reality itself.[1]

Notes

  • Victory is based on DC Comics character Triumph, who was also co-created by Mark Waid. Like Voyager originally appeared to be, Triumph was a character retconned into the early history of his team (in this case the Justice League of America), having been wiped from existence and memory during an adventure only to come back years later.
