Neelie was a Humanimal evolved from a vampire bat who inhabited Counter-Earth with her husband Till and their children. When the Guardians of the Galaxy arrived, Neelie provided them with hospitality and the location of High Evolutionary. Neelie and her family, along with the other Humanimals, were killed shortly after when the planet was destroyed by High Evolutionary.
Biography[]
Life on Counter-Earth[]
Neelie was a vampire bat who was taken from Earth and forced to evolve by High Evolutionary as part of Batch 92. She was then placed on Counter-Earth with her husband, Till. One day, Neelie and other Humanimals watched as the Bowie touched down on the surface. When Groot started scaring the beings, Neelie tried to run away only to trip. Star-Lord tried to show her he was peaceful by helping clean up her wound.
Neelie invited the Guardians of the Galaxy to her house to talk. Despite a language barrier, Neelie was able to understand that Quill wanted to know what the Mowtios were, helping by drawing a photo of them. Neelie then walked over to the window only to see there were spectators. She yelled at them before pointing to Arête Laboratories, saying that they needed to go there. Quill thanked her and borrowed Neelie's car, crashing it on the way out. Eventually, High Evolutionary blew up the planet, killing Neelie.[1]
Personality[]
Like the rest of the Humanimals, Neelie was extremely cautious when the Guardians of the Galaxy arrived on Counter-Earth. During a scuffle inadvertently caused by Drax, Neelie was injured, prompting Star-Lord to tend to her wounds. Despite initially being afraid, Neelie quickly calmed down upon seeing Star-Lord's kindness and returned the favor by inviting the Guardians into her home. Inside, Neelie was shown to be very hospitable and willing to help the Guardians, despite the language barrier making it difficult.
The language barrier also helped display Neelie's understanding and intelligence, as even though she could not understand Star-Lord, she was able to deduce he was looking for Theel and managed to explain Theel was one of many Recorders located at the nearby Arête Laboratories.

- Humanimal Physiology: Neelie's physiology is a combination of both humanoid and animal DNA. In particular, Neelie was evolved from a Vampire Bat, giving her bat-like features including ears. This gave Neelie literal bat-like hearing and senses.
