"Your latinum is always welcome, but if you want credit you'll have to talk to the owner."
– Leeta, 2373 ("Doctor Bashir, I Presume")

Credit was the act of allowing a person to purchase something without paying money or another form of currency (such as replicator rations) for the item, with the promise of paying it back to the creditor. A line of credit was one's own personal credit account.

After he ran out of money, Kozak wanted to buy more bloodwine with credit, something which Quark was not open to, as his bar was not as profitable as it had been at the time. (DS9: "The House of Quark")

Quark accepted credit in his bar when doing business with Federation citizens. (DS9: "Take Me Out to the Holosuite"; VOY: "Caretaker")

In 2372, Quark told Morn not to extend any lines of credit while the Lurian was temporarily running the bar. (DS9: "Little Green Men")

By the end of that year, Brunt criticized him for giving his customers credit. (DS9: "Body Parts")

In 2375, Neelix tried to cut Tom Paris's credit off when the officer still hadn't paid him back for the pork rinds he'd replicated for his monster movie marathon. (VOY: "Warhead")
