Operating with active warp cores, these Federation starships were destroyed when their dilithium became inert resulting in an antimatter explosion. These incidents became part of the story of The Burn.
One fleet of 36 ships was made up of at least two Angelou-class ships, three Saturn-class ships, seven Constitution-class ships, four Eisenberg-class ships, four Courage-class ships, six Merian-class ships, four Friendship-class ships, two Dresselhaus-type ships, and an Intrepid-class ship.
