An aide - also known as a personal assistant - is an individual who is employed to provide assistance to another with their business. This usually applies to primarily official tasks, but for persons of importance this can also include personal business or daily business.

Following the Tarsus IV Massacre, an aide to Tarsus IV Governor Gisela Ribeiro attempted to assassinate the governor with a grenade. After he was subdued, Starfleet Lieutenant Commander Philippa Georgiou suggested to the governor that she fire that aide. (DSC novel: Drastic Measures)
