Bonanza is an inhabited planet, the fourth planet in the Aegis Aquila star system, at coordinates 4.45N 4.47W.

History and specifics[]

A frigid, icy rock, inhospitable and virtually featureless, Bonanza was an important planet due to its considerable sub-surface gold and diamond deposits. With a large population of off-world miners living under pressurized domes, Bonanza steadily increased in value since its discovery. Geologists estimated that the gold and diamond reserves would not be depleted for at least another century. Starfleet maintained a small orbital defense installation supporting large monitors and numerous corvettes to guard the system from unauthorized intrusion. (FASA RPG module: The Federation)

This trade world was owned by the Bonanza Development Corporation. It was in Federation space located within the Organian Treaty Zone in the Twilight Nebula sector, less than five parsecs from the border to the Klingon Empire and less than two parsecs from the Twilight Nebula. (FASA RPG module: Trader Captains and Merchant Princes, 2nd edition)

Background[]

The world's coordinates from The Federation would place it in treaty boundary quadrant 1, a.k.a. Starfleet Intelligence sector 1, a region lacking a Klingon border. The later-produced sourcebook apparently retconned its position to quadrant 4/sector 4's Twilight Nebula sector for gameplay.
