A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Elias Giger was 24th century scientist.

Biography[]

Giger's work concerned finding a way to, basically, prevent death. To that end, he developed technology in the form of a chamber that would regenerate cells, the downside being that an individual would have to spend eight hours a day within it. Giger attracted the attention of Jake Sisko and Nog, who obtained materials for his device in exchange for a Willie Mays baseball card that Giger bought in a lot auction, and Weyoun. (DS9 episode: "In the Cards")

Giger's work with the Dominion appears to have ended badly for him and his work on immortality. (DS9 reference: Gamma Quadrant Sourcebook)
