Reynaldo Sangupta was an Human male, who served as a Starfleet officer in the 22nd century.

History[]

By 2163 he held the rank of lieutenant and served as Chief science officer aboard the the USS Pioneer under the command of Captain Malcolm Reed. Not long after his posting, he started a romantic relationship with armory officer Lieutenant Valeria Williams.

In February, 2163, he accompanied First officer Travis Mayweather and Williams to the surface of the planet Hansen's Planet as part of their survay mission. The trio shared a friendly argument about the Federation's future while they were searching for the local lifeforms. However, the locals found them first and attacked the away team. Due to the newly discovered dangers of the transporter, Captain Reed didn't want to risk a beam up, so he detonated a photonic torpedo in the planet's atmosphere to scare of their attackers.

In March, Captain Reed thought Sangupta's relationship with Williams affected their duties, so he ordered them to break it off, what Williams immediately did, but Sangupta struggled with the matter for months.

In April, after the Pioneer became stuck in a decaying orbit of a super-Jovian planet, Sangupta discovered the existence of the cloud whales. These creatures lived high in the gas giants's atmosphere. Sangupta and comm officer Bodor chim Grev devised a way to ask the cloud whales for assistance, who saved the ship from inevitable destrution. In 2164, following the abduction of Lieutenant Samuel Kirk and Ensign Grev in the Rigel system, Sangupta accompanied Mayweather and Director Kishkik Sajithen to Rigel III, in an attempt to uncover evidence about the involvment of a radical Chelon tribe.
