Crown of thorns motif on the lenten stole. The color came through dark blue, but it is actually deep violet. There are 2 crowns, one on each end of the stole. The crown is couched in purple silk, to and fro. The nails are padded and diagonal stitched in a 4 color gold metal threads. This is from a deacon's stole that the deacon's wife and I made. I did the embroidery.

This is alluding back to what Jesus wore before he died, which usually is never to express anything positive as he wore it when he was suffering. Patria alluded to this as a way to show in how much pain(emotionally) she felt when the SIM was escorting her son and husband.
