Cream of Rice Soup with Cilantro, Ginger, Garlic & Ghee
Cilantro, Ginger and Garlic pacifies Kapha, Pitta and Vata. Breaks up winter congestion and cold. Garlic is grounding for late fall Vata and an aphrodisiac. Cilantro is one of the few cooling pungent spices that stimulate digestion and reduce inflammation, thus reducing Pitta. Cilantro has a sweet "vipak" and thus is nourishing. Use fresh ginger.
Recipe: Roasted Eggplant and Brown Rice Bowl with Turmeric Tahini
This bowl looks fancy as all get-out, but hello! It only takes 30 minutes to make, and it's gilded with a spectacularly easy sauce of tahini and golden turmeric. Here we're using roasted eggplant that's been tossed with za'atar, a Middle Eastern spice blend made with sumac, thyme, and sesame. If you don't have eggplant on hand, you could use cauliflower, sweet potato, beets, or Brussels sprouts instead as the hearty veggie component.
