Shades of RED *
The word red is derived from the Old English rēad.The word can be further traced to the Proto-Germanic rauthaz and the Proto-Indo European root rewdʰ-. In Sanskrit, the word rudhira means red or blood. The words for 'colored' in Latin (coloratus) and Spanish (colorado) both also mean 'red.' whereas in Portuguese the word for red is vermelho, which comes from Latin "vermiculus", meaning "little worm".

Dino Martens Vase - Millefiori Murine Style Of Italian Modern Murano Glass
Vintage Murano glass vase was made in flask shape with graphic abstract patterns on both back and front sizes of the vase. The solid red glass gather was decorated with fused multicolored millefiori and murine inserts that were accentuated with light blue and white glass swirls and patterns on the sides and around the rim of the vase. The colored gather was encased in clear glass in sommerso technique, adding depth and visual complexity to the piece. Deep, intense red background color helps to balance complex, multicolor design of the fused glass. The vase is done in the style of Dino Martens; however, it is not signed, making a proper attribution difficult.
