The Fish Army was a villainous army entirely composed of fish monsters faced by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in their first two years of operation. The organization appeared exclusively as the main antagonistic force of the episode "A Reel Fish Story".
History[]
Rocky is acting as a volunteer lifeguard at Angel Grove Lake and is trying to motivate some children by claiming that he has never seen a monster in the lake. Inspired, Lord Zedd decides to resurrect an army of past fish monsters to destroy the Power Rangers and prove Rocky wrong. After Bulk and Skull cause a false shark attack, Goldar informs Zedd that three of the Power Rangers have gone scuba diving and are thus cannot be destroyed with the others but his master decides to go ahead anyway since a divided team is one which is easier to destroy and they can easily dispatch the remaining three when they surface for air. Lord Zedd first resurrects the Slippery Shark right in the middle of Angel Grove Park where he starts instantly teleporting towards the beach. Unlike his last appearance, the Command Center's scanners manage to pick him up and Zordon alerts Rocky, Billy and Aisha as they stand guard over the Lake. All three quickly morph and move to stop the Slippery Shark from entering Angel Grove Lake since he would be unstoppable in the open water as well as the risk he will pose to the children swimming in it.
The Power Rangers manage to cut the Slippery Shark off right before he enters the lake by landing atop a lifeguard tower but he is happy to see them since he has been sent to slay them all. After some back and forth of insults, they jump off the tower and do battle with the monster. The Slippery Shark ducks a swing kick from Billy only to be chest kicked back but he shrugs off another and helmet punches down Rocky. Aisha then tries to attack but is throat slapped down before Billy jump kicks the Slippery Shark in the shoulder but he spins around to avoid most of it and gut slapped down. Aisha tries kicking him in the face but the Slippery Shark ducks under it, grabs her arm, and slaps her away before blocking a kick from Rocky and smacking him away into the air. Intending to press his advantage, Zedd next resurrects Pirantishead and the Goo Fish to even up the odds as the Slippery Shark is still outnumbered. The Rangers combat the monsters but are evenly matched so Zedd has Goldar send in Commander Crayfish to bring them down. As Goldar obeys, the Goo Fish swings at Aisha but blocks a punch, grabs his arm in a second swing, but gets booted down in the back. Commander Crayfish then jumps in from high in the air to try and impale her but Billy thankfully pulls her out of the way. Whilst Billy and Aisha lament their overwhelming, Rocky rolls forth and kicks down the Goo Fish before getting up and spinning away from a Slippery Shark swing but they double team and throw him away.
Fortunately, Alpha finally gets through to Tommy as he and the remaining two Rangers emerge from the ocean and has them morph to help. Pirantishead fights Billy but is immediately wiped out by a jump kick to the back the moment that they arrive. The monsters are all amazed at the new arrivals (the Goo Fish calling them ugly with no sense of self-awareness) but they and the Rangers then pile in for one big brawl with the Slippery Shark leading the charge. First to fight, Tommy jumps in and kicks over the Slippery Shark who ducks and swings but Tommy punches him in the gut and twirls him down. Following on, Pirantishead slashes Rocky down the front with his chain flute but he is unfazed and spins away from another. Rocky runs past another swing, shrugs off a kick, kicks Pirantishead in the face to no effect, and swing kicks Pirantishead down. With his scheme falling apart at the seams, Lord Zedd creates the Tube Monster from a life ring utilized by Bulk and Skull to try and return to shore. Zedd’s intent is to create a monster with more “brawn than backbone” since he is sick of fish monsters who have failed him consistently by now. Immediately after his creation, Lord Zedd uses a Growth Bomb to make the Tube Monster grow to destroy Angel Grove whilst the Power Rangers are busy with his Fish Army. After demolishing most of mid-Angel Grove, the Tube Monster begins to move downtown to wreak more mindless destruction. Back at the Lake, the brawl continues as Billy grabs the Goo Fish but is thrown off just for Kimberly to kick him down. Upon learning of the Tube Monster’s existence however, due mostly to Zedd not thinking out his plan correctly, Tommy (as Kimberly physically restrains the Goo Fish) elects to remain behind to battle the other aquatic monsters whilst the other Power Rangers summon their Thunderzords. Whilst the Thunder Megazord slays the Tube Monster, Tommy remains behind and, though the Slippery Shark is confident in their victory due to uneven odds, he then lightning slashes his way through the fish monsters with Saba. However, the Goo Fish survives his first few slashes unlike the others but Tommy Is alerted to the attack by his sentient sword and unleashes more strikes which brings down the Goo Fish, The devastating lightning slashes quickly cause the monster to cease to exist.
