To everyone's surprise, Sheila is ready to sign the divorce papers after initial hesitation. Sheila even apologizes to Eric and Stephanie for causing them so much pain - and wishes them all the best for the future. Despite Sheila's behavior, Stephanie is still firmly convinced that she is profoundly evil and merely putting on an act. She warns Dr. Carey not to release Sheila under any circumstances. Meanwhile, Sheila - who is shaken from the visit - is comforted by her cell-mate Sarah. James is anxious to speak with Taylor, but she seems to have disappeared. James runs into Samantha and finds out that Taylor has broken up with Eric through a letter and then left town. At the Forrester Mansion, Lauren tries to make Ridge jealous, but he is rather unimpressed by her feminine charms and wishes her good luck for the evening with James. Ridge learns from Maria the maid that she has to leave for Mexico to take care of an ailing family member. Later, Lauren and James meet for a luxurious dinner at the Private Dining Room.
