The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) is an iconic dark nebula in the constellation Orion. Along with the nearby Flame Nebula (NGC 2024), this region is one of my absolute favorite deep-sky targets to shoot with my DSLR camera and telescope.

The constellation of Orion is rich with impressive nebulas. Of the many interesting details that particularly draws the eye is Barnard's Loop, the bright red circular filament arcing down from the middle. The bright orange star on the upper left is Betelgeuse, while the bright blue star on the lower right is Rigel.
