The Los Angeles Zoo, founded in 1966, is a 113 acre zoo located in Los Angeles, California. The City of Los Angeles owns the entire zoo, its land and facilities, and the animals. The Griffith Park Zoo opened in 1912 with just fifteen animals, a few miles from the current Zoo site. Today, you’ll find more than 1,000 mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles (representing more than 250 species) on more than 100 acres at the L.A. Zoo.

Los Angeles Zoo: Reviews from families visiting Los Angeles Zoo. We went a few months ago and had a great time. I highly recommend taking the tram for a few bucks per person. Its a large zoo and theres a lot of walking. We saw a lot of animals. I used a coupon found in the Entertainment book for a BOGO admission last year. They might have it again for this year. Had a lot of fun at the zoo.
