These vases were made in a technique called "off the hump" throwing where I would place a large ball of clay on the pottery wheel and start centering the upper part of it and shaping a vase. Once it's done I would wire the vase off and proceed to the next one. When the vases got leather hard I've trimmed and carve them and fired in the kiln.
