An aerial view of the patchwork-like changing textures and colours in the fields around where I live in the UK. I used sand and pva texturing to build up the tree plantations and hedges which contain the cultivated fields of changing patterns all 'sculpted' by the farmers tractors and combine harvesters.

I did this lesson with seventh graders, most of who have not learned anything about perspective drawing. This was a wonderful introduction to perspective drawing & landscapes. I would recommend it for 5th-7th grade. We did a 1 point perspective worksheet first. The use of soft pastel on colored construction paper is no fail. We have been away for a few days, but I was determined not to miss the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham, so we returned yesterday, and I have spent a lovely day viewing, being inspired and shopping!
