Epithelial tissues serve many purposes such as protection, secretion, absorbs, and filters what goes through cavities. There are many types of epithelial tissues, such as the epidermis (which is the outer layer of the skin). Epithelial tissues protects the body from bacteria. The epithelial tissues actually removes dust that is ingested during respiration. WOW! Note worthy!

The term meristem was introduced by Carl Wilhelm von Nägeli. Meristematic tissues have undifferentiated cells forming specialized plant structures building blocks. Meristematic tissues have living cells of various shapes.

Transitional epithelia of the urinary bladder undergo changes in thickness depending on how full the bladder is.
